General Overview

The IUCA Library is a structural subdivision of the university that provides information and library support for educational, research, and instructional-methodological activities in accordance with the goals and objectives of the university.

The main function of the library is the development, organization, storage, and provision of library and information resources necessary for the implementation of educational programs and the support of the university’s research activities. The library serves students, faculty members, and university staff.

The library collection includes printed and electronic educational, scientific, and reference publications, as well as instructional and methodological handout materials. Access to library resources is provided in accordance with established procedures and current university regulations.

In order to expand users’ access to information resources, the IUCA Library subscribes to the international scientific electronic database JSTOR and is a member of the Kyrgyz Republic Electronic Libraries Association “Kirlibnet.” The library’s electronic catalog is available online and can be accessed remotely via the website catalog.iuca.kg, ensuring prompt search and ordering of library materials.

The acquisition of library collections is carried out on a planned basis in accordance with curricula, educational programs, and the university’s research priorities. The university annually provides ongoing funding for the purchase of new educational, methodological, and scientific literature. Library materials are purchased in accordance with established procedures based on requests from faculty members and students, taking into account regulatory requirements for educational resource provision.

An important source of library collection development is the donation of literature from individuals and organizations. The library expresses gratitude to James Hung, the “Yraim” Public Charitable Foundation, Gerald Priest, S. Alamanov, U. K. Sarbanov, N. P. Zadorozhnaya, T. A. Kolesnikova, Zh. M. Ryskulova, as well as the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society for their contribution to the development of the library’s material and informational resources.

The IUCA Library functions as an information resource and cultural-educational center of the university. As of the reporting period, the library collection includes 9,166 copies of textbooks and teaching aids, 1,950 units of instructional and methodological handout materials, and 1,500 electronic textbooks. In 2020, within the framework of the EGEA project, the university purchased educational and scientific literature totaling more than 6,000 euros.
