World Speech Day
On March 16, 2023, the “IUCA Speech Forum 2023” dedicated to World Speech Day* was held in IUCA

The welcoming speech was delivered by the President of the International University in Central Asia, Dr. John Rosslyn Clark, as well as Mr. Carlos Bueno Horcajo, freelancer, senior consultant of the SAP system, IT consultant/specialist, chief judge of the competition, and Alena Maksakova, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Humanities, lecturer of the "Public Speaking" course with the words: "No matter who you are, you have the potential to inspire big changes with your voice and your ideas. Everyone has a story to tell, and World Speech Day is about maximizing each person’s potential through the sharing of unique experiences."


Students and professors of IUCA listened with great pleasure to the speeches of students of the departments "English Linguistics", "Pedagogy" and "Business Administration". The jury determined the winners: 1st place was taken by Zarina Solpueva, LNG120, with a speech "Make your own decisions". The 2nd place was taken by Sawitta Boonluean, BA122, with a speech "A Trip to Thailand", and the 3rd place went to Gulzhan Chynybekova, LNG120, with a speech "The Oscar Award Acceptance". All participants and prize-winners were awarded certificates.


*World Speech Day (World Speech Day) is designed to emphasize the importance of speech in everyone's life and show how it can be used to change the world for the better. This day also reminds us that we must be responsible for our words and understand that they can have a significant impact on others.


On this day, people from all over the world make public speeches on various topics, such as politics, science, culture, social issues and others. The event is held with the aim of promoting education, culture and democracy, as well as improving the level of literacy and the ability to express one's thoughts.


World Speech Day was launched in 2016 in the UK and has since received widespread international support. Today, the event is attended by people from more than 100 countries of the world who give speeches at more than 3,000 events. People from different walks of life make incredible speeches on various topics under the mottos #unexpected voices and #worldspeechday
