IUCA Model UN Brings Together More Than 100 Students from Universities Across Kyrgyzstan
The large-scale conference was preceded by an internal Model UN for IUCA and IUCA College students, providing a practical platform for future delegates

On April 18, 2026, the International University of Central Asia (IUCA) hosted a large-scale Model United Nations (MUN) conference, bringing together more than 100 students from universities across Kyrgyzstan.

Preparations for the conference began in March with an internal Model UN organized for students of IUCA and IUCA College. Approximately 50 students participated in this first stage. The event provided participants with their initial practical experience of the Model UN format and introduced them to the principles of diplomatic debate and the procedures for representing the positions of states.

The next stage was the major inter-university conference held on April 18. More than 100 participants had the opportunity to take on the role of state delegates within UN bodies, research the positions of the countries they represented, discuss current international issues, conduct negotiations, and work toward common solutions.

The conference was organized into five committees, each focusing on a specific area of the international agenda. During the sessions, participants presented national positions, developed and defended their arguments, engaged in debates, and interacted with other delegations, gaining practical experience in multilateral diplomacy.

The Model UN enabled students to develop a range of important professional competencies, including public speaking, argumentation, diplomatic negotiation, professional communication, teamwork, and the representation of national interests.

The organizational dimension of the project was equally significant. The transition from an internal conference involving approximately 50 participants to an inter-university event bringing together more than 100 students provided the organizers with valuable practical experience in planning and managing a large-scale educational event.

The IUCA Model UN became not only a platform for applying knowledge of international relations in practice but also a space for inter-university communication, professional networking, and the exchange of ideas among students from across Kyrgyzstan.
