During the visit, students explored the work of Parliament and met with Member of Parliament Dastan Bekeshev

6/3/26

On June 3, 2026, students of the International Relations program at the International University of Central Asia (IUCA) visited the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, where they gained first-hand insight into the work of the country’s Parliament and the practical responsibilities of its members.

During the visit, students toured the Jogorku Kenesh and visited the parliamentary chamber while a session was taking place. The MP’s assistants introduced them to the organization of parliamentary work, the activities of Members of Parliament, and various aspects of the legislative process.

An important part of the visit was a meeting with Member of Parliament Dastan Bekeshev. Students had the opportunity to ask questions directly and engage in an open discussion. The conversation covered the education system, the MP’s professional experience and personal achievements, as well as other issues of interest to young people.

Dastan Bekeshev also shared his impressions of the visit on his social media page, mentioning the IUCA students’ visit to Parliament and his meeting with them. At the end of the discussion, he encouraged the students to take responsibility for their own lives and future.

For International Relations students, the visit to the Jogorku Kenesh provided an opportunity to observe the work of one of the country’s key state institutions from within, connect classroom knowledge with real political and legislative practice, and communicate directly with a representative of the legislative branch.

Such visits are an important part of the practice-oriented approach of IUCA’s International Relations program, helping students develop a deeper understanding of public administration, political institutions, and decision-making processes.
