Meerim Nurgazieva, a third-year student of the International Relations program at the International University of Central Asia (IUCA), participated in the TIMUN (Tashkent International Model United Nations) Conference, held May 23–25 at Westminster International University in Tashkent.

The conference brought together students from different countries and served as a platform for discussing key issues in international politics, diplomacy, and global cooperation. Meerim took part in the World Trade Organization (WTO) committee, where participants discussed the topic: “The Impact of Protectionism on Trade: Assessing WTO Policies and Their Effects on Developing Nations.”

Participation in such international academic events allows students to develop skills in diplomatic negotiation, analytical thinking, and public speaking, while also deepening their understanding of contemporary global political and economic processes.

“Participating in TIMUN in Tashkent was a very valuable and inspiring experience for me. The conference impressed me with its scale, high level of organization, and the number of participants from different countries. It was a great opportunity to try myself in an international diplomatic environment, discuss global issues, and meet incredibly interesting people. I gained new experience, expanded my network, and received strong motivation to continue developing in the field of international relations,” shared Meerim Nurgazieva.

Participation of IUCA students in international conferences contributes to the development of professional competencies, strengthens academic networks, and prepares future specialists in the field of international relations.
