IUCA Associate Professor Roman Valvakov (English Linguistics Program) Presented at Two International Conferences in Moscow
Roman Valvakov, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor of the “English Linguistics” program at the International University of Central Asia, took part in two major academic events held in Moscow in March and April 2025.

On March 29, 2025, Dr. Valvakov gave a presentation at the academic and practical conference “I Don’t Remember This Place” — The World of J. R. R. Tolkien as Reflected in the Media, organized by the Library of Foreign Literature. His talk, titled “Variability in Translating the Color term green in Literary Texts (Based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and its Russian Translations)”, explored nuances of color word translation in literary discourse. The conference brought together scholars specializing in Tolkien’s works and their media representations.

On April 9, 2025, Dr. Valvakov participated in the academic and practical conference “Sensory Aspects of Text and Discourse Across Linguocultures: Borders and Lacunae”, hosted by the Department of English Philology at the Federal State University of Education. There, he presented a paper titled “The Concept of ‘Silence’ in Literary Discourse: A Comparative Study of the Original and the Translation of Ch. T. Aitmatov’s Novel The Place of the Skull.”

Participation in these events provided an opportunity to present research results in specialized academic forums and highlighted the high level of scholarly activity among the faculty of the International University of Central Asia.
