On October 1, 2025, the International University of Central Asia (IUCA) hosted an interactive round table titled “Mysterious Chinese: Language, Translation, Game”, organized by the Chinese Linguistics Program and the Office of Science and Research.

The event, dedicated to the International Translator’s Day and the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, brought together students and faculty for an engaging exchange of experience, discussion, and creative collaboration.

The program skillfully combined serious academic presentations with exciting interactive activities. Senior students (3rd and 4th year) delivered presentations on the current challenges and specific features of translation practice. Among the topics presented were:

• “The Translator as a Bridge Between Cultures”

• “AI in the Translator’s Work: Assistant or Competitor?”

• “Simultaneous vs. Consecutive Interpretation”

• “Slang in the Chinese Language and Its Translation”

A special dynamic atmosphere was brought by interactive games prepared and hosted by 2nd-year students for the freshmen. Participants eagerly competed in the contests “Guess the Character,” “Build the Word,” and the quiz “Chinese Kaleidoscope,” which allowed everyone to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of Chinese writing and language in an informal and friendly setting.

In the final part of the event, results were summed up, and the most active participants received certificates and sweet prizes.

The round table became an important milestone for the Chinese Linguistics Program — it not only fostered knowledge exchange but also strengthened students’ interest in their future profession as translators.
