On September 28, 2025, students and faculty of IUCA's Pedagogy Program gathered for a team-building day — one that turned out to be more than just a get-to-know-you event. The highlight was the "Welcome to the Profession" initiation ceremony, in which each first-year student read aloud the Teacher's Oath, making a personal commitment to their future students and to the teaching profession.
The day also featured the burial of a time capsule. Students placed inside it messages to their future selves — their hopes, fears, and promises — to be opened at graduation. This tradition transforms the first year of study into something more than coursework: a conscious journey from newcomer to educator.
The team-building brought students and faculty together through games, creative activities, and genuine conversation. Moments like these are central to the program's educational philosophy: professional identity is built not only in the classroom, but in the shared experiences that happen alongside it.
