Meerim Nurgazieva, a third-year student of the International Relations program at the International University of Central Asia (IUCA), successfully passed the selection and participated in a two-day cross-debate training titled “Green Economy and Sustainable Development.” The event was held January 31 – February 1, 2026.
The training was organized by the Kyrgyz Economic University (KEU) with the support of the University of Central Asia (UCA) and brought together more than 40 students from different universities. During the first day, participants learned the format and rules of cross-debates and immediately began practicing teamwork and argumentation.
On the second day, participants formed teams of three and took part in full debate rounds. Nine teams competed in total, and Meerim’s team won second place. Winners received certificates and monetary prizes.
“I participated in a two-day cross-debate training on ‘Green Economy and Sustainable Development,’ where more than 40 students from different universities took part. On the first day, we learned the format and rules of cross-debates and began practicing in teams. On the second day, participants formed teams of three and competed in full debates. Nine teams participated, and our team won second place. Winners received certificates and cash prizes. However, the most valuable part for me was the new connections, knowledge, and practical experience in debates. This training inspired me to organize a similar debate format at our university focused on environmental issues and sustainable development,” said Meerim Nurgazieva.
Participation in such inter-university initiatives helps students develop argumentation skills, critical thinking, and public speaking, while also deepening their understanding of global environmental and economic challenges.
