On December 10, 2025, the International University of Central Asia held the Student Scientific and Practical Conference “My Linguist. Problems of English Pronunciation,” organized by the English Linguistics program of IUCA within the framework of the English Phonetics course.
The conference participants included first- and third-year students of the English Linguistics program at IUCA.
The purpose of the conference was to introduce students to the lives and academic contributions of prominent linguists and to highlight their role in the development of linguistics as an interdisciplinary field closely connected with philosophy, history, culture, ethnography, and psychology. Special attention was given to current practical challenges in teaching and learning English pronunciation.
As part of the conference, students prepared and delivered presentations on the development of linguistic research in Russia, European countries, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Kyrgyzstan. English was the working language of the conference, allowing participants to demonstrate not only their research skills but also their level of communicative competence.
The special guest of the conference was Dennis Bricault, Professor at North Park University (Chicago, USA), who noted the high quality of the presentations, their strong content, and the participants’ academic approach.
Based on the discussions, it was concluded that further theoretical and practical study of linguistic issues is essential, as it contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural and psychological phenomena in the English language and enhances students’ motivation and confidence in using English in academic and professional contexts.
The conference concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
