Requirements
CURRICULUM
The Information Technology Curriculum is based on the Software Engineering curriculum for a bachelor of science in computer science of the American university of Central Asia. It has been adapted to the Information Technology specialty according to the standards of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. Because graduates of the program should have practical as well as theoretical knowledge of the field, all seniors write a senior thesis. Students wishing to graduate with honors may go on to defend this thesis.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students graduating from the Information Technology program must
• pass state examinations (TOEFL, Kyrgyz History, and if not defending a thesis, students must pass the state complex exam on Information Technology)
• complete a minimum of 192 credits
• complete the Information Technology required courses with a “C- “or better
• complete a Senior thesis
• complete the General Education requirements.
Upon completing the Information Technology required courses and the General Education requirements, students are free to take Elective courses either inside or outside the department, focusing on their areas of interest. Students are also free to minor in another program.
